The Johannesburg Staduim

Soccer City Johannesburg World Cup Stadium

Johannesburg will have two stadiums in the World Cup 2010 and also boasts the opening match, one semi final and the final match of the tournament.

Soccer City is the jewel in South Africa's crown, built in 1987 and with a capacity of 94,700 (excluding Media and VIP's) it is sure to offer a great atmosphere for the lucky few that get tickets and hopefully as the stadium to be used for the first game, provide an excellent springboard for a magnificent tournament.

For 2010, the upper tier will be extended around the stadium, an encircling roof will be constructed, new changing room facilities will be developed and new floodlights will be installed.

Ellis Park World Cup 2010 Stadium

Ellis Park was constructed in 1982 as a modern, integrated stadium offering outstanding sight lines from every seat. The Stadium stands within a world class sporting precinct, barely 15 minutes' walk from the Johannesburg City Centre, and offers outstanding office, security and medical features.

For 2010, new upper tiers will be constructed behind each of the goals, at the north and south ends of the venue, increasing the net capacity by 10,149 seats to a total 60,000.

Ellis Park will host one quarter final match.

South Africa World Cup 2010 Grounds

Daniel Munthe Agger (born 12 December 1984) is a Danish professional footballer who currently plays as a central defender for English club Liverpool. He started his senior career at Danish club Brøndby IF in July 2004, with whom he won the 2005 Danish Superliga championship. Since his international debut in June 2005, he has been capped 29 times and scored 3 goals for the Danish national team.

Born in Hvidovre, Daniel Agger began his youth career at Rosenhøj BK. At 12 years old he joined the youth team of Danish Superliga club Brøndby IF.

In July 2004, he was moved from the youth squad to the first team, following the departure of Swedish international defender Andreas Jakobsson. Daniel Agger quickly established himself not only as a first team regular, but as one of the key components in the team that won the Danish Superliga 2004-05 championship. Despite his relative youth, he played with great authority and class under the guidance of Brøndby team captain Per Nielsen, and after the first half of the season Agger was named 2004 "talent of the year" by Spillerforeningen (the Danish equivalent of the English PFA).

Hearts warn Nade over indiscipline

Hearts have issued a "final warning" to Christian Nade over the striker's recent indiscipline.

Nade, 25, clashed with midfielder Ian Black in the dressing room after the 2-0 defeat by Celtic last month.

"He committed a breach of discipline and he is on his final warning," Hearts manager Jim Jefferies told the club's official website.

"He has been warned about his behaviour but as far as we are concerned that is the end of the matter."

The Frenchman, who is out of contract in May, has struggled for form this season at Tynecastle.

Jefferies added: "It is now up to the player himself along with a few others at the club (to prove) that they will be part of the long-term plans."

South African Football Players Union

The South African Football Players Union and Edward Motale, a professional football player of 12 years’ standing (who has played locally and has also represented the National side Bafana Bafana) launched an application on 23 October 2000 against the Ria Stars Football Club (“Stars”). The applicants sought an order:

1 Declaring the respondent’s conduct in giving the second applicant (i.e., Mr Motale) a clearance certificate, constitutes a repudiation of the fixed term contract of employment concluded by the second applicant and the respondent.

2 Directing the respondent to pay the applicant’s outstanding salaries in the amount of R 113 333,40, calculated from the date of breach of the contract to the last day of the fixed term contract.

3 Interest at the prescribed legal rate from the date of demand to the date of payment.

4 Costs of the suit.

Stars opposed the application and filed an answering affidavit by Mr Malombo Lechaba, its coach. A confirmatory affidavit was filed by Mr Junior Ramusi, Stars general manager. Ms Ria Ledwaba, the managing director of Stars, signed a resolution of the board which, significantly, authorised Mr Lechaba to oppose the application.
