Hoddle and Eriksson in talks to be new Nigeria coach

Former England managers Glenn Hoddle and Sven Goran Eriksson are in Nigeria for final interviews to take over as coach of the Super Eagles.

Former Sweden coach Lars Lagerback is also being interviewed by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).

Ex-Senegal boss Bruno Metsu and former Ghana coach Ratomir Dujkovic have already been interviewed.

"We can confidently say that the new man will be announced from these names," said the NFF's Ademola Olajire.

Nigeria have been without a coach since Shaibu Amodu was sacked shortly after his side's disappointing Africa Cup of Nations tournament in Angola.

The NFF has had to move fast to find a successor to give them as much time as possible to prepare for this summer's World Cup in South Africa.

And according to the NFF, the new coach will be announced on Sunday.

"That top coaches are already here in Nigeria for an interview is a pointer to the fact that we are almost there," spokesman Olajire continued.

"Names alone cannot guarantee success so therefore the technical committee wants someone who can bring what fans, media, football house and the world expect of our team."

Three weeks ago, Nigeria named a list of preferred candidates, and since then Louis Van Gaal, Guus Hiddink and Peter Taylor have all rejected the chance to coach Nigeria.

Dutchman Hiddink last week agreed to become the coach of Turkey, taking control on 1 August upon expiry of his contract with Russia.

Meanwhile, the NFF has also confirmed that Nigeria will face the DR Congo in an international friendly on 3 March.

This will replace the planned friendly against Paraguay in London, as negotiations between the two countries failed.

Amodu, who is now overseeing the team of locally based players that will take part in the African Nations Championship, is likely to be in charge for that game with the new coach watching from the stands.

Pitso John Mosimane (born July 26, 1964 in Kagiso, Gauteng) is a South African football (soccer) former player and coach currently an assistant to Carlos Alberto Parreira who is the manager of the South Africa National Football Team. He is one of the longest serving and highly-rated coaches in South African soccer having won several major trophies with Supersport United in recent years.

In December 2006, he was banned for 2 months after verbally abusing an assistant referee in a league game. The club's goalkeeper Andre Arendse, who was also involved in the incident, received a ban as well.

"Jingles", who acted as assistant coach to Ted Dumitru during the ill-fated 2006 African Nations Cup campaign of South Africa in Egypt, and later also worked as a caretaker coach until Parreira was appointed.

Staduims in South Africa

The PropertyInvesting.net team visited South Africa to provide some insights for our visitors. Starting with the Cape Town area - it’s absolutely beautiful. Dramatic scenery, lovely beaches, history, culture, low retail prices, a growing economy and amazing “Mediterranean” climate – similar to central Italy. Only problem is the crime – 2010-world-cup-cape-town-studiumyou have to “watch your back” and “don’t be too trusting”. As we have described before, the retiring babyboomers with high net worth have been looking for select properties with sea views, sun, sand, sailing, scenery for many years now. Most of the British arriving at Cape Town airport seem to be over 55 years only. Many South Africa's from Jo'burg retire in these parts.

Africa Cup of Nations 2010: A Tournament Best Forgotten?

The 2010 Africa Cup of Nations is over. Though I usually love the tournament, I won’t be remembering this edition fondly. For several reasons.

First and foremost, Angola 2010 will mostly be remembered for the attack on the Togo team bus, in which three people died and many more thought they were going to die.We can blame the tournament organizers for putting games in Cabinda. We can maybe blame the Togolese football authorities for making less than sensible travel plans.

South Africa World Cup Tickets and all other football tickets of the matches of the teams are going to be sold out much quickly as compared with others.

Mostly I blame the men that did the actual shooting. But following the attack, the Confederation of African Football handled the whole thing with a confusing mix of insanity and heartlessness. First CAF rejected the Togo team’s request to rejoin the tournament after briefly returning home, and more recently CAF banned Togo from competing at the 2012 and 2014 Africa Cup of Nations.
